 INDEPENDENT TOUR - 8 Days/7 Nights - approx. 320km  

   Overview

Let our “flyers” do some of the work for you, so bikers with different levels of fitness can book a bike tour together. Available Salzburg to Vienna and Passau to Vienna routes.

You have a choice of the Classic Tour of 8 days/
7 nights or you can take options according to your fitness level.

The Light tour is one day longer 9 days/8 nights. The Moderate tour is shorter so the days cycling are longer – 7 days/6 nights. The Moderate/Energetic tour takes 6 days/5 nights.

   Your Journey

Day 1 Arrive Passau. Visit the cathedral to see the biggest church organ in the world.

Day 2 Passau to Schlogen 44kms Ride to the Upper Donau Valley for wonderful views of the surrounding countryside.

Day 3 Schlogen to Linz 53kms. The fascinating Donauschlinge, between Schlogen and Aschach, is dotted with the ruins of old castles. Tour Linz, a recently renovated historic center.

Day 4 Linz to Grein 65kms. Cycle via Enns, the oldest city in Austria and across the meadow landscape to arrive at Burg Clam, one of the best-preserved castles in the country. Overnight in Grein, which is dominated by a picturesque castle.

Day 5 Grein/Melk 51 kms. Bike through the Strudengau to Melk and visit its’ imposing Benedictine monastery.

Day 6 Melk - Krems to Traismauer 40/55kms (longer option). Bike through the lovely Waschau winegrowing area, past orchards and romantic villages to the medieval city of Kremms.

Day 7 Krems - Traismauer to Vienna 39/87kms(longer option) Bike past Stift Gottweg (monastery) to the Roman city of Tulln. The Wienerwald Forest closely follows the course of the Danube. Pass the castle of Greifenstein before reaching Vienna. Option to take the train Tulln to Vienna (not included).

Day 8 Arrangements terminate after breakfast in Vienna.

   Terrain

Along the Danube is flat or slightly downhill. The route is almost completely on bicycle paths without any traffic. A wonderful route for first-timers and children

   Meals

Breakfast daily. Half board extra.
