Bike & Cruise the Cyclades
GUIDED - 8 Days/7 Nights, ca. 190km.

   Overview

Your floating accommodation, a 32m/100ft long Greek motor sailing ship, will take you from Porto Rafti to the island of Kythnos.

The Cyclades, in the heart of the Greek archipelagos, comprise more than 30 islands, and were the cradle of the first European civilised society 5,000 years ago. This area is one of the prettiest and untouched part of Greece. Gleaming white cubic houses with blue shutters and labyrinths of lanes give the typical architectural flavour to the island towns. The mostly ragged coastlines show impressive geological formations, turquoise-blue sea and fantastic sand beaches.

***** This trip can be extended to a 14 night/15 day cruise exploring further south in the Cyclades to include the beautiful islands of Santorini, Paros and Naxos.*****

   Your Journey

Day 1 Board the MS Andreas from 2 pm in Porto Rafti, a fishing port only 15 km from Athens Airport.

Day 2 Kythnos Island (25 km). Kythnos is mostly flat. Bike to the port of Merichas, the main town of Kythnos. Wander the maze of white-washed houses and crooked lanes. Visit the thermal spa Loutra on the rugged coast then return to Merichas for overnight.

Day 3 Seriphos (20 km). Seriphos is a small island with deep valleys, numerous bays and many beautiful sand beaches. On a panoramic road, cycle to the Byzantine monastery of Taxiarchis and onto Seriphos town, whose cube-like houses drape the mountain slope high above the sea. A winding road leads down to the harbour of Livadi.

Day 4 Syros (25 km). Cruise to Syros. Ride from Ermoupolis to Kini, a quiet fishing village, along the coast above many small beaches then return to Ermoupolis. Pastel coloured houses, often with classic facades adorn the town squares and the ample harbour boardwalk is ideal for a stroll and a sundowner.

Day 5 Mykonos (25 km). Arrive Mykonos early so you can visit the ancient sites on Delos island. In the afternoon cycle in the northern part of the island along a coastal road to the lighthouse on Cape Armenistis. We continue along the shore of Lake Marathi and to the middle of the island. Return through the south to the main port Mykonos with its famous windmill hills. Stay overnight.

Day 6 Tinos (35 km). Tinos is an island rich with water. We visit the sanctuary of the Greek sea god Poseidon then follow a panoramic high road to the mountain village of Kambos. There are many dovecotes, relics from the Venetian times, built in fine stonemasonry. Continue to Pyrgos, a picture-postcard village in the hills then to Panormou where the ship waits to take us to the next island, Andros.

Day 7 Andros (60 km). Cycle from the port of Batsi to the remoteness of the lush mountain ranges, where innumerable dry stone walls enrich the landscape of this second-biggest Cyclade island. We reach the capital, Andros with its’ white houses and charming little lanes. In the afternoon, cross the fertile Messaria valley and return by coastal road to the ship. Cruise to Karystos on Euboia Island for the last night.

Day 8 Departure. Cruise to Porto Rafti and disembark after breakfast

   Terrain

Moderate – Biking is often in hilly or mountainous areas. The roads are mostly asphalted. You can always choose to skip a bike tour and spend the time sunbathing on the ship instead
