NORTH ROUTE - The bicycle paths run mostly through country areas, along the former “Zuiderzee”, today’s Ijsselmeer, then to the biggest of Holland’s mud flat islands, Texel, and along the shores to Alkmaar.
Saturday - Arrive Amsterdam Board between 4 – 6 pm Dinner cruise to Zaandam
Sunday - Zaandam / Alkmaar (35 km). Visit the open air museum “Zaanse Schans” to see traditional wooden houses, windmills, cheese and wooden shoe (clog) manufacture.
Monday - Alkmaar / Den Helder / Oudeschild (island of Texel (35-55 km). Cycle from Alkmaar or St-Maartensvlotbrug to the North Sea, along the beach, through the dunes and the flat polder land to the naval port of Den Helder. Cross the Marsdiep with your ship (weather dependent, or by ferry) to the harbour Oudeschild on the island of Texel
Tuesday - Island of Texel (25-65 km). Oudeschild – Den Oever. Cycle beautiful natural areas and beaches on the island. Dinner cruise over the tidal “Wadden Sea” to Den Oever (weather dependent).
Wednesday - Den Oever – Medemblik – Enkhuizen (30-50 km). Cross the dike and bike along the IJsselmeer (former “Zuiderzee”) coast to Medemblik to end in the beautiful harbour and historical town of Enkhuizen.
Thursday - Enkhuizen – Hoorn – Volendam (50 km). Visit the “cheese town” of Eda m and traditional fishing village of Volendam (taste the famous smoked eel or salted herring).
Friday - Volendam – Amsterdam (35-50 km ) Cycle the Waterland area of hundreds of small lakes and canals and continue to the former island of Marken. Afternoon and evening in Amsterdam.
Saturday - End of tour
SOUTH ROUTE - Visit the historical towns/cities of Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Delft, The Hague, Gouda and Leiden.
Saturday - Arrival in Amsterdam and board your vessel late afternoon.
Sunday - Amsterdam - Schoonhoven (40-65 km). Cycle beside beautiful canals. Opportunity to visit the gardens of the fairytale castle “De Haar” then continue to the silver town of Schoonhoven.
Monday - Schoonhoven - Rotterdam (30 km). Travel by ferry, then cycle to Kinderdijk where you can see 19 windmills in one line. Continue to Rotterdam
Tuesday - Rotterdam - Gouda (40-60 km). Cycle to Delft where you can visit one of the famous porcelain factories. Continue to the government town of The Hague which you cross enroute to the bathing and health resort of Scheveningen. Return to Rotterdam by bike and train. While enjoying dinner on board you cruise to Gouda.
Wednesday - Gouda - Leiden (45-60 km). Cruise to Leiden, the oldest university town in the Netherlands. Cycle tour across Wassenaar to the beach resort of Noordwijk and Katwijk.
Thursday - Leiden - Westeinder. (60 km). Option to cycle the dunes or inland to Haarlem.
Friday - Weistender - Amsterdam - Zaandam (30 km). Cycle through parks to the open-air museum and village of Zannse Schans. Continue through the parks of Twiske to Amsterdam.
Saturday - Departure. Disembark after breakfast.
